Cubarsi + Laporte had a far more impossible job for a defender, going against the line of mbappe & dembele on counters, being way harder than upa and saliba had against spain. cucurella did have a easier job due to the midfield approaching the half-space to help out the fullbacks. it’s just a tactical difference from both teams, not really circumstance since france had a superior attack

So, this should be applied to the comparison between Lamine x Olise. Because lamine is always surrounded by 2/3 players every game and it is not the same with Olise at Bayern. According to your logic, as the Yamal job is harder and he still delivers, his season is better than Olise's ?

Lol even if we remove the 3rd place game France conceded 0.78 xG per game and were playing a pragmatic style, Spain conceded only 0.3 xG per game less than half while France wasn’t exactly playing a flick style high line super vertical risky high press. Cubarsi and Laporte were virtually perfect defensively bar the Belgium goal and were incredible in build up as well.

You're biased when it involves a Bayern player. The only good attacking team that France played against was Spain, where their defense crumbled. Spain competed well against stronger teams. Also, Cubarsi doesn't make a lot of mistakes in the CL; it's Barcelona's system. He is actually great considering how exposed the defense is. He is also a victim of UEFA refreeing incompetence in two consquetive seasons. An awful penalty was given against him for what was a great tackle on Lautaro. Even Arsène Wenger said this. This season, another highly questionable decision involving a red card against Atletico de Madrid.
