Make it exciting!! The goal of recall is to make yourself more exciting and rewarding then anything your dog could be sniffing/chasing. So high value rewards, specific “come” command only used when you need him to drop everything and come, and making it FUN! Also important to practice that when he does come, it doesn’t always mean the off leash fun is ending. So the way you are practicing now is great, he learns to check in and then he can still play

Tips: If he doesn't listen to recall, call for him and walk AWAY from him. I know it seems scary, and the most "normal" reaction to your dog not coming would prob be to walk towards them to grab them, but most dogs will come if they think you're leaving them behind. Usually always work for my doxie. If he doesn't listen the first time, I call for him again and start doing a lil run AWAY from him, usually works ❤️

Get a longer line! There are 15ft ones and 30 ft ones🥰 works really well until they fully get used to being a bit longer distance away

Definitely teach him/her to be able to stay for long periods of time in a sit or lay (preferably lay position) while your away even, then if u let him/her off leash and they chase smt or u see them interested in smt tell them the command, and make it exciting, get a long leash 10+ feet ! And work on obedience daily Definitely teach him/her to stay next to you while walking on leash and be a calm walker then they are more likely to be good off leash, and one of those like recall collars (non shock or pain) are rlly good

He’s getting so good! 🥹 longer leash will definitely help and also i always say mommy’s leaving if he’s being stubborn and doesn’t come back to me right away 😂

Omg that is amazing. I wish I could try with my pup, but if she sees a cat, she is running after it. I wish she could be off leash so she could explore a little bit more, but she is very reactive towards cats and squirrels. 🥹

I let the leash drag. He has days where he does not care about the world and then there is days eveything is a hazard for him 😂
