That's weird. I've worked on large pools that had copper pipes and used massive amount of both solid and liquid chlorine and never had a copper/green problem.

The copper is not turning your water blue green. The other metals in your water are dissolving, along with the copper, and are turning it blue green. Mostly likely the iron in your water. A small amount of copper in that much water is not going to do what is being suggested.
