timers are my best friend. Tell my kid I’m setting a timer for x amount of minutes and when it goes off it’s time to leave the park/go inside/bath or bedtime or whatever. Once I started using a timer it’s changed everything

ok I completely understand the first one, but I also think it is important to explain to your kiddo that when they are upset to take a few deep breaths. it's hard the first few times but after doing it a bunch they can learn we take deep breaths when we are upset

It doesn’t always work, but I ask my son “what’s that sound?” when he’s been crying and I can’t get him to stop for a moment to listen to me. Going on 3 years old with big big feelings & this trick has saved me a few times.
