No supermarket shelves full of alternatives. No industry built around replacing a mother’s milk. Today, we have options our ancestors never had. Formula has saved countless lives, and when breastfeeding truly isn’t possible, it is a gift. But let’s not confuse an alternative with the biological norm. Human milk isn’t just food. It’s a living substance that changes from feed to feed, responding to a baby’s needs with antibodies, hormones, enzymes, immune factors, and bioactive compounds that science still can’t recreate. Formula can keep a baby fed. Breast milk does far more than feed. So I can’t help but wonder... Have modern alternatives simply given us more choices?
