I USED TO accept coffee dates. Now it's a "no" for me. Why? Because I spend an enormous amount of time getting ready for the date plus I spend money to get ready- clothing, nails, hair, perfume. I believe in equal investment.

People are very different in person than online or even on a video call. I’d much rather meet for coffee so I can leave after 20 minutes if the in person chemistry is not there. That’s much better than getting dressed up and going to a restaurant to figure out before the appetiser arrives that you never want to see each other again. Before apps NOBODY went straight to a dinner date. You met in person, often multiple times, and talked before you were asked out on a date. That first step is missing now.
