@theleadvegan: & it really is that deep 😛. Review of the bold bean vs M&S chickpeas!!!! Fricken heck this was a yummy challenge 🫘 other thing I forgot to mention is that the jars are sized differently!! So u get less beans in the M&S giant chickpea jar, buuuut, that could be a pro as some say the bold bean chickpea jar is too big 👀 let me know ur thoughts !!!!! Skip to 2 mins if u want the short breakdown ⭐️💕⭐️💕⭐️💕
The 55p ones are in water, the others are in brine

I like Bold Beans and think their products are great, but the idea that they’ve “normalised” beans feels a bit off to me. For lots of people from ethnic backgrounds, beans have always been a staple. I’m Algerian/Mexican/Italian (weird mix I know 😂), and they’ve always been part of our everyday cooking and the glass jarred beans have always been in the delis we shared at. To me, it feels less like Bold Beans made this popular, and more like they’ve marketed them really well to a middle-class British audience that perhaps don’t necessarily have a strong culinary tradition.

I reckon for most cooked meals a good old cheap can will do. As a vegan I would be spending loads more with Bold Beans. Although they are really tasty you can’t deny it!

Im pretty sure M&S used to stock Bold bean and they ripped them off and stopped stocking them! Icky behaviour for such a giant to do that to a smaller brand. They’ve done it before to other brands too I think 💔

Wait I didn’t know you can get superior beans? The ones I use are just cheap from a tin- they’re kinda dry when I eat them even if they’re in a sauce, is that why?!

Get yourself to a Turkish offie/bodega. Best beans you will get and half the price.

Go to any Turkish supermarket. Same size jar, same thick liquid, 30% of the price. Crazy statement on beans being boring bland or needing normalising too. Maybe I just grew up cooking 😅

I bet the M&S giant ones would be great in a salad! The brinyness would be a good addition
