My dad works a rough construction job and I as his only son wanted to be the one who supports him financially, but I’m unemployed for over 2yrs now. He’s 64 and been working since he was like 12-15. The day I graduated he was so happy he posted it on his WhatsApp story - the only time in his life he ever used that feature. Recruiters/hiring managers treat me like I’m worthless, but they don’t know what I went through to get that stupid degree. In Allah we trust, better times will come in sha Allah, and I hope to gain my reward from Him. Whoever reads this, stay strong.

I'm just gonna say this. If he didn't have a retirement plan, that's on him! If he brought children without a plan to create wealth, without the plan to get himself out of poverty first, that's on him. It'd be nice if you get to help your parents. I mean, it even feels nice to help a stranger, let alone your fam. But children should NEVER feel guilty for failing to do so.

In that situation make him happy by doing all the housework, fix any odd jobs, clean the gutters etc..

I live with that shame. I wake up at 6 with him and sleep after him. I can’t even sleep and sit during the day. I have been avoiding him for days now. I hope I get a job soon again..
