I found out at 53. I blamed myself for everything. I wanted to be an astronomer, but I’m an admin. They wouldn’t have had the tools to help me in school like they do today. Feels like a life wasted.

Diagnosed at 60. It brought grief, relief, validation, and no excuses. I'm confused where to go from here. Learning new phrases like, masking, 🤔, task paralysis 🤔, executive dysfunction 🤔, etc. Years of being told I'm lazy and stupid. So much spacing out. Gave up, tried again. It's been 2 years. I'm so tired. No confidence in the future.

AuDHD here- as a kid in the 70’s, my symptoms were labeled as”non-motivated “, “daydreamer”, “doesn’t try hard enough”. Last year when I talked to my PC doctor about how distracted I get and how I get overwhelmed- but I recognize when it happening and she said that at 63, I’ve learned how to cope so why would I want to take meds or see a specialist for an “official” diagnosis. At least I know the “whys” of why I get bored, have a work history that is scattered, and it’s all based on my undiagnosed diagnosis. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dude, try to imagine being diagnosed with menopause and ADHD at the same time. It’s alarming and a relief.

I actually love it!! It makes sense! It is my super power. I was 63 when I found out. And I thumb my nose at every person who was cruel and laugh as I enjoy myself

83 for me. I really was glad to learn that I have ADHD. The diagnosis explained so many of my behaviors. The only downside of learning about myself was that my husband passed away eight years before I gained this knowledge. It would’ve helped us to know and maybe would have tamped down some of our arguments.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age. I had a name but 75% or more of my symptoms were never connected to ADHD bc it wasn't spacing or hyperactivity. So there were so many things that were "wrong" that I didn't have a name for. future research on my own when I was old enough and running into the ADHD community on social media has given so many things a name. Answers to do many questions. Like why couldn't I just do the task? Why could I do my homework that one time vs all the other times? Why couldn't I concentrate on this vs being so focused on this other thing that someone had to wave their hand in my face?

not to mention that women who have ADHD experience worse symptoms in perimenopause and menopause

I’d put that number sooner. I was diagnosed in my early 50s, and I’m still mad that nobody picked up on it when I was a kid. I recently saw my report cards from elementary school (mom saved them) and the comments are hilarious. I still can’t believe I managed as well as I did but the thing I greave is what I COULD have done if I had known.

I was not diagnosed until I was in my late '50s. I still cry about it.. I don't feel the grief we'll ever leave.

I have guilt. Not because I was in my 40s before my diagnosis, but because I didn't get my kids tested and now they're adults trying to navigate it.
