Look, maliciously or ignorantly accessorizing gay men is awful coming from anybody. But I genuinely most women are just excited to be able to talk to a man who might actually treat women like real people. Women are CONSTANTLY having to change the way they behave to accomodate for the fact that there are straight men within proximity. So when a women gets excited when you tell her you're gay, sure sometimes it can degenerate into objectifying, but most times they're just glad that they don't need to police themselves around you. That they don't need to be worried about being pursued, or judged, or in physical danger. Again, I'm not saying that women always treat gay men fairly. But you have to understand that sometimes, they're just relieved that you aren't likely to kill them.
