Aang’s storyline is so good in this movie because even though he brought balance to the world, found his own family, and met the love of his life, all these years later he’s still carrying around that guilt

i hate the fact that people forget the movie is called "AANG THE LAST AIR BENDER" It's about aang not about the other characters. And aangs character arc is SOLID ASF.

LOVED this movie. Aang’s trauma is brushed upon in the OG series, but as he grows older & older without a single person from his childhood or culture I can only imagine the pain & grief that continues to bubble up inside him. He’s such an underrated character, & I feel like this movie finally gave justice to the parts of his character that get overlooked. 🧡💛

I’d like to think Tenzin restored Aang’s hope for a future of airbenders, seeing as after this run in with Tagah and the staff, he must have lost all hope of that being a reality. Tenzin must have seen his dad constantly just downcast and him believing in his father’s dream, he eventually starts to push Aang to teach him everything he knows and so Aang spends most of his time with him. Aang seeing Tenzin grow and develop his skill set definitely restored in him some glimmer of hope and so he dies rather peacefully knowing there’s yet a future for his people despite all the set backs in his attempts throughout his lifetime. 🤧

Aang was just 12 when this life-altering trauma happened and he then had no time to process it bc he had to save the world. It makes sense that at 25 he’s still actively dealing with processing deep trauma, grief, shame, and self blame. My favorite part of this movie is that they addressed that so whole heartedly. My heart hurt with every tear he shed. He’s the avatar, but he’s still healing, he’s soft, and gentle with the world even when the world took his people from him. They did a great job with his character development imo.
