I have an irrational fear of H2S gas. It’s DEEP and I’ve never even been around it. The way it just fuckin kills you, there’s no closure. No thought. No warning.

What’s scary is that at high concentrations it doesn’t have a smell. Luckily it does have a smell at lower ppm, so there is SOME warning. I got hit a couple times, but everyone does at some point if they’re in the fields.

H2S is a heavy gas thats why he told the guy to stay up there. Smells like rotten eggs at very low PPM but at higher levels its odorless and is extremely deadly. Common in Oil and gas as well as Petrochemical.

I was working at a drilling disposal and a vac truck came and dumped. The driver cracked open his valve and dropped instantly. Our zone readings stopped calculating. We had bring in hydrogen peroxide in and dump

I used to haul molten sulfur years ago and H2S was my biggest fear. Had to use an air supplied respirator and had to have one of those sniffers when I was loading my tanker.

Worked at a refinery for 10 years. Nothing got people moving faster than a chirp from our H2S monitors. Luckily, we only had 2 minor leaks during my time there and no one was hurt.
