this is quiet literally the dumbest thing ever. banning open models literally will do nothing to china. it's all cons for users. you are forced to buy expensive American models. Chinese gains absolutely nothing from making the models open they have 0 control on open models.

you fail to mention the fact that open weights models are just weights and not dangerous in any way, there's basically no way to inject malware or anything via model weights. but if you ban them, a few companies get to monopolize AI and your prompts have to be transmitted to their servers if you want to use AI as opposed to you running an open weight model locally. so this would basically help a few companies in the us monopolize the ai market, ultimately leading to the us losing to China in the race, and also setting up a possibility of mass surveillance. also how the fuck do they intend to ban model weights? it's legit just a set of numbers lol
