Lmao, this is super normal in 3d animation, sometimes movies don't have the characters done, but the ppl working on the sets, put stand in models, sometimes it's literally just cubes, or sometimes, if the models are done but not rigged, they just have them t-posint and sliding all over the place, it's mainly to see how the set looks, where to place the cameras and also to get good shots, then you can simply exchange the stand in for the final model and you can have the final rigged character moving from spot to spot so you can better focus on doing the animations. I guess here they used campaign assets to stand in for the mobbsters
