Hot take? Aang had an easier time than Korra. Aang had to: learn the elements quickly and fight the fire lord with the help of the best earth bender ever, a prodigy water bender, and a tactical genius. Korra had to: fight a 24/7 blood bender that takes bending away, fight Satan v2, fight the Gaang (inversed), and then overcome blood poison to fight mecha-hitler while being accompanied by a baddie with a glove and a couple weenies.

Korra was the first character in TV where I felt FULLY seen and understood. So excited for life, knocked down at every step, yet still got up. Labelled a hot head, but was really a girl trying to fit into a mood that had been shaped by the people around her, never herself. She will forever be my number one comfort character, I see so much of myself in her. She was so impeccably written, I can’t wait to find out the full truth in Seven Havens and see how she tried to save the world instead of seeing it dashed into the cosmic dustbin😭 MY AVATAR FOREVER

well yeah aang didnt wanna be avatar and was around when there was only one primary villain korra actually took her responsibility seriously in a time when everyone was vying for power a few could argue the world was better under fire nation occupation if it werent for the whole genocide thing

ATLA was made for kids. Korra was much more heavy addressing death, ptsd, depression, being a teenager bearing the responsibility of the world. everyone wanted this up and up build but I appreciated the realistic struggle of being the one destined to "save the world" in their own way. If you read the novels, it's all about avatars' struggle to understand what balance is needed

People don't dislike Korra because she’s a woman, or because of her skills and power. It's really because her personality was written to be completely insufferable. She’s the exact opposite of Aang, and that polar-opposite contrast created a massive clash for fans. Look at Zuko, for example. He started out with an awful attitude too, but the writers gave him an organic, earned growth that made people actually resonate with his struggles. With Korra, that growth came way too late in the series. And blaming sexism for her backlash is such a weak argument. This fandom has always loved strong female characters like Toph, Katara, Azula, or even Kyoshi. It’s not about her gender cause even in her series people like Asami, Jinora, the twins, etc. It’s just that her personality was frustrating to watch.

they only hate Korra because of the fact that Aang died and another avatar has to go and replace him. Nostalgia kicks in. But if we are going to literally compare both Avatars, Aang’s ultimate opponent is the Fire Nation Firelord, Ozai. KORRA FACED 4 LIFE THREATENING MAIN VILLAINS. With machinery and backups, with mastery and goal to kill.
