Also her saying “they’re space cops” ok why aren’t they in space 😭 like if the entire argument is that the lantern corps are the SPACE police then shouldn’t the emphasis be on SPACE aspect and not so much about POLICE aspect.

In cannon, there have been times where Green lanterns have literally self-identified themselves as space cops, yes, but I don't like it. I don't feel like "Cop" describes them very well. (I will say I've only read early Hal, the Hard-traveling heroes, some random bits of Guy's stuff, and a random small sampling of modern stuff.) Not because of the whole genre thing, but because that's not how cops work in my mind. I understand it's the closest they could get for a quick summary for people not in the know, but, once you get into the world, it's obviously so different from the concept of a real world cop. I'm having a very hard time articulating my thoughts ...

Calling them cops is not so much accurate as “Knights” would be I feel. They have a cause + oath and sure like it’s organized in a way to easily understand for readers in like “sectors = precincts” or something, but GL stories are like aura action adventure you’re right

And you don’t think you can do any of that in a grounded Detective story? You don’t think that you can’t explore themes of fear, willpower, and doing the impossible in a grounded Detective story? My God, by this point in time, y’all are not being the accusations that you just want a one-to-one direct translation of the comics. The directors are clearly fans of the source material so because of that, I’m pretty sure all the criteria that needs to be allowed is be a fan of the source material and then do whatever the hell you want with it

It’s strange to me that there actually is a very popular Green Lantern story about solving a complex mystery and detective work (Far Sector) they just chose not to adapt it I guess
