The Iliad and the Odyssey are good books, but beware that they are very old. Most faithful translation are a little awkward to read. In the version of the Ilias that I read, the chapter called "catalogue of ships" just lists all the ships and the men on board. There are also many phrases that repeat over and over, which stems from the way the story was told orally over the centuries. But it's still really cool.
