"why were all the bells confiscated in WW2?" has the man not heard of the London blitz???? tons of things from children to works of art were removed from London to protect them. & anything that could indicate to a German pilot where they were was moved/hidden while anything that could be used to signal (accidentally or intentionally) to said pilots were also removed/hidden/locked down. like ???? I'm assuming that most of Europe reacted the same way because both sides were bombing each other all over the place
