It’s honestly ridiculous because you’re 1000% correct…which is crazy because as doctors misdiagnosing someone happens all the time and I think it’s because we’ve been trained to essentially rush…and not slow down and critically think…our board exams are designed to essentially test rote memorization and true understanding

Yup and the information being thrown at you never stops btw. We’d have a major exam and I’d have to study that night for material we’d see the next day. No days off M1 year really tbh

Yup. This is a well known thing. the content itself is quite simple to understand. Many high schoolers can do it. The difficulty is the volume. Thats why some propose stretching medical school out by a year or two and cutting the bachelors requirements. Originally med school didn't require a bachelors because it is technically an undergraduate degree, but uniquely in america it requires a bachelor's now, even though none of the material from the bachelors is built upon

It sucks because you will find a way to learn it and then your questions in your finals are “Patient has X,Y,Z, What are they Most likely to have?” And give options where 2-3 of them have said symptoms. But you need to know which is more likely even though technically it could be the other options too 😭
