fantastic song and oh the irony! it's not just a diss track, it's a commentary on the music industry and art in general. When he says "I did that yesterday, when I was a kid" he is not just bragging "I was here first, I did this first, I heard this new cool band before you did" etc, etc. He is also admitting the same sins, "I did that when I was a kid, I was superficial caring about outfits like the Weeknd", "I stole other people's music, ideas, bass lines like mine got stolen by others". Look at the cover of the album and learn its history: a photographer taking close up photos of other photos and displaying them as his photos on purpose. This is art! This is the point that's been made with the heavy use of auto-tune. The Strokes pose as a different band who's copying the Strokes. This is art commentary and also a commentary on their own career having been around for decades. Listen the first few seconds of the hard guitars in the song, and then he says "I did that yesterday" (Is This it) and quickly jumps to that juggling sound (that juggling sound we had all negatively reacted back then, when we were expecting Is this it part 2 but we got 12:51 as the first single). THIS SONG IS PURE GENIUS.
