On paper we measure distance in KM… but practically, we measure it in time.

As a Canadian, this is incorrect. We measure distance by travel time.

My parents live on the Canada US border. They use Celsius when it’s cold and Fahrenheit when it’s hot because they want to be dramatic in both directions.

Teeeeeechnically, height is metric. On my DL, my height is in cm, but I’m not even sure it’s accurate. They literally asked me: do you know how tall you are? I told them my height in feet, and they wrote a number in cm on my dl so 🤷🏼‍♀️

So speed is in KM, but when talking about how far something is, it is based on time.

Literally me on a plane rn with a good luck charm on my bag. 604 was brand new at the time of the incident, and served Air Canada until 2008.

On driver's licenses, in Ontario at least, our heights are listed in cm.

No, I'm sorry, kilometers is a government sign and measurement, in daily life we measure distance in time it takes to get there. No one wants to know that it's 16 kilometers to work, they want to know that it takes 20 minutes to get there.

It’s definitely a bit odd, the older generations are predominantly imperial, the younger you get the more likely they use the mixed system, and often the better they get at converting on the fly

I'm sorry but while metric is perfect for nearly everything it doesn't work for the height and weight of people

In Australia babies still have their weight reported in grams and pounds. We still talk about height is feet but report in centimetres

Nobody knows outside temp in F but cooking has instructions in F because the product is usually American.

The prairies were surveyed in miles. Saskatchewan has township roads at every 2 miles and range roads at every mile. So I find it way easier to navigate rural Saskatchewan in miles.

The crazy part is that it's the same thing in both official language. You'd think the francophones would at least have a different mix, use metric for something while the anglophones use imperial. Nope. Exact. Same. Somehow, nothing lost in translation there.
