She most definitely at a minimum will be getting a job to pay for those legal fees and insurance increases. I am not paying for this.

Take the keys and sell the car. She doesn’t get the car back.

Reward her with a nice new class 1 e-bike and take the keys to the car away.

Hey its Gary :
No! You enroll the kid in a performance driving school so they have a full understanding of car control. They are not going to stop doing this, so it's better to prepare them rather than try stopping them.
The first day I got my license I was pulled over in my mom's Ford Taurus and ticketed for 92mph in a 55 along with "following too close" and "exhibition of speed". We weren't actually racing (me and a friend basically just merged onto the highway and floored it) The punishment is paying the fine and potential license suspension. There shouldn't be any further punishment from the parents

car is gone. she will work to pay everything off, then save to buy her own car and insurance. when she gets a car, make her pay to have a governor added to keep her speed under 75. she can pay to have it removed when she moves out.

the judge will be taking away the driving privileges. Parents won't even have a say in it. She will probably get community service and some mandatory driving classes before she can have her license back

No driving privileges until she has paid for all of it, and proves she can afford her insurance going forward. Require her to pass a defensive driving class. Beater car only.

They pay the ticket and they don't have a car on my dime at all... EVER. If they want to drive, they can get a job and pay for it all on their own.

Honestly in a just society she would be spending some time in jail for this…

Speeds that fast and the driver should get a comparable punishment to a DUI imo. Its everybit as dangerous

Well I would imagine that her insurance will be unaffordable, so she’ll probably have to surrender her license entirely.

Driver license is surrendered to the dmv, kid gets a job within walking or bicycle distanceso she can pay off her ticket. Her next chance to drive is when she is an eighteen year old legal adult

The DMV is gonna take care of that issue. She won’t have a license for at least a year.

she has fully demonstrated she cannot be trusted. that trust has to be earned back with a lot of consistent behavior. until that time, she's not driving any car that I own.

Oh. I did this same thing. My mom made me work to pay back ALL legal costs and the restitution. Had to drop all my afterschool activities, work through summers, and some mornings. Everything was direct deposited into my parents’ account. I became a lot more responsible and it took YEARS of work to pay it all off. And now, I don’t speed.
