I think the reason Elijah got to take his body was so he didn’t experience death. I’m guessing God can just take your body once you get to heaven with no death 🤷🏾♂️. But then why do any of us have to experience it?

That’s a great question. The Bible actually teaches that we won’t be just spirits in heaven forever. Jesus rose in His body and ascended in His body as the “firstfruits” of what happens to us. God isn’t trying to get rid of our bodies — He’s planning to redeem them. That’s why Elijah and Jesus went up bodily. And yes, in heaven right now they do have bodies, but glorified ones, not 2000-year-old decaying ones. 1 Cor 15 explains it more.

Paul talked about a light body, and that was what Christ had, a resurrection body. In Buddhist language, it's called a rainbow body. So we can't expect it has the same qualities as our physical body.
