recently watched Pulp Fiction with the new GF, she didn't like it. I stayed the night, mostly for memories and deleted that contact on the drive home.

Pulp Fiction is a brilliant film. I do understand why it’s polarizing with its non linear storyline. But the screenplay is top notch

Everyone I know who’s seen Baby Driver loves it but anyone who hasn’t is really only opposed to Kevin Spacey

Everyone knows everything❌ :
What you call underrated are very popular films. I’m not sure what else they should get to warrant being properly rated.

Pulp Fiction is one of the best films of the 90s. As explained by another creator, so many films have borrowed from its style of cinematography, writing, direction, and nonlinear plot that it is no longer the stunning piece of new film that it was in the 90s. You can have your opinion but historical context matters.

The biggest reason I love Donnie Darko is the integration of the soundtrack into the film. In the directors commentary, he acknowledged that the song he wanted to use for a scene determined how it was shot and I just feel like thats evident. I LOVE a movie with a great soundtrack that suits the film.

Donnie Darko is overrated as hell. I GET the movie, but like timefuckery can only be so interesting. I've heard Southland Tales is fucking amazing though.

Pulp is better on rewatch. Since you already know the plot you care about tracking it less and you lock in on character and performances and it gets its hooks in you. The scene where butch chooses a weapon in the pawn shop is a good example- it’s such a simple but amazing scene.

I feel like this is why we should just watch movies blindly instead of watching reviews and peoples opinions about them first cause than we create this huge expectation of the movie and then when we watch is it it doesn’t live up to that expectation we say it was bad or mid or overrated even tho it could be a masterpiece.
