Or you can buy Snap drill, a device that clamps on the pipe and drills without havning to push the drill. Check it out.

I like to use a mag drill with a pipe drilling base and a couple of chain clamps for things like this. if I was cutting more than two or three holes I would definitely pull it out. if you go slow and use lots of oil or coolant it works really well, with no need for pilot hole and really minimal effort.

Get yourself a Greenlee Carbide hole saw, and use alot of water, they cut amazing!!!!

I just use straight water for lube because I am lazy, the bits are free and I hate cleaning before welding. Saves my time, not the holesaws. 🥰
