@bluetsunami2026: Heathers the Musical has never really been on my radar. I was a fan of the movie with Wynona Ryder, Christian Slater, and Shannen Doherty back in the day but I sort of blew off the musical for a while until friends kept on harping for me to see it. There’s a cult following for a reason, that first act is bonkaz in terms of punch you in the face fierceness, electric energy throughout the stage and crowd, ear-candy musicals numbers, and of course the dazzling colorful as fukc Heathers! When they say dark comedy, we’re talking 50 shades of black y’all, this is some deep territory they get into. I completely forgot some of the storylines that went into the movie version but I need to check if they veered off, but the stage production went there!! I have to give it up to them for throwing down the uniqueness card, not holding ANYTHING back, and laying it out there because it was an entertaining evening. Didn’t realize until I got home when the understudy slip fell out of the playbill that the lead role of Veronica was being played by standby standout Sara Al-Bazali. Brava princess! "Dead Girl Walking" is signaling Veronica's 💙 metaphorical death as a social outcast and her choice to seize control of her life by seducing J.D. which is an interesting switch-up cuz in the film it was J.D who sneaks into her room. I love it though because she's initiating this intense relationship and taking charge of her own fate. J.D is played by standout John Cardoza who has you glued to him every time he steps on stage. He has that charisma that Christian Slater had back in the 80s along with the persona of Chad Kimball in the show Memphis who played Huey Calhoun but much much darker. 🖤 Bra friggin Va!
