I’ve heard chefs say, if you need a tool for the kitchen, buy a cheap one. If you then eventually wear it out from use, then go ahead and invest in a better one because you proved it’s justified.

It helps me to avoid needing "the best version" when I consider how having "the best version" traps me into that decision because if I spent a lot of money on it I will not allow myself to switch to something else or sell it for a huge loss
