they start those fires for many reasons, like to make charcoal, slash and burn farming, nitrogen and regrowth. those are forest fires

Maybe Im way off on my geography. BUT isn't that area of Africa and Madagascar in the southern hemisphere? Isnt it technically winter there? like its not even their hot season. Also isn't that the exact area where they had been (very successfully) growing the Great Green Wall to stop the spread of the desert?
