As a newer mom, I get it. My baby dictates my schedule, and/or she would need to join the plans. And I get that people don’t wanna deal with all that.

I don’t think she put the “no sahm” disclaimer because she doesn’t want to hear about your kids, I think she put that because she doesn’t want to get coffee/do Pilates/go shopping WITH your kids & the majority of sahm have their kids with them 24/7 or damn near 🤷♀️

It’s not a job title it’s a lifestyle dynamic. And people don’t always want to be friends with people that have completely different lifestyles. She didn’t “write you off”, she doesn’t even know you. She just has no interest in your life style and that’s fine.

as a child free by choice person, I would never seek out mom friends. I have friends who are moms who I adore and would never write them off or stop being friends with them because of that, but if I'm actively seeking new friends, I would prefer they be childfree as well

Not hate, and I do have SAHM friends but as a working mom I do feel like I don’t connect to SAHM moms as much. I’m very career driven and my success is a big part of me and I tend to click better with other women who can talk the same level as me

We aren’t against kids at all, we just want friends that have the same flexibility and schedules as us. Parents simply don’t. I can’t go on camping/hiking trips with my mom friends. I can’t go on long road trips with my mom friends. For those still breast feeding they can’t even be away from their own house/baby for more than a couple hours. It’s just…not what I’m interested in and that’s totally okay. I don’t think you should take it so personally, you seem really sweet you’re just at a different place in life.

A lot of moms are constantly talking about their kids and almost nothing else. You said it yourself, it’s a huge part of who you are. Of course it is. And if it’s not a huge part of who she is or it’s not something she’s interested in, then maybe you don’t have as much in common as you think.
