I will be going back as I have responsibilities to the kids I look after! And we can’t change things if we don’t make it known to those higher up! Sometimes you have to fight in a political way. But my loyalty’s lay wth the kids I work with.

Bullying amongst teachers in the education system is rife and common in top down systems. Would never go back to county hall or schools or any work for a local education authority. If we were left alone doing what we do best, us and the kids could channel ourselves with little stress and real learning could occur

As someone who works lunchtime duty and after school club I can say that many people are looking at other job roles as the behaviour not just from kids but the parents too is disrespectful and disgusting. I’m a parent myself and one of my children is autistic but they have manners and are polite but the children now speak to you like dirt

I left this time last year for so so many reasons. On paper it was the easiest job I'd ever done.The reality was, it was the hardest I had ever done. And for the least amount of money. I now work 2 days a week and earn the same I did working full-time in a school. For a whole lot less stress and heart ache.

Definitely thinking about it. Going back in September but my resignation will be going with me. The last term was the main reason. Felt totally unsupported whilst others were giving everything to help them.

yes definitely, as a midday supervisor on minimum pay but dealing with behaviour like being kicked & spat at & no consequences for that child it is something im thinking about seriously

After 16yrs I gave my notice on the last day of school, 16yrs of never been asked how I was ans one rule for one another rule for others.

For the first time ever I’m voting to strike - I never have before as …… well it didn’t feel right but the last 12 months has made me grumpy. I love my job but expected to do more and more for the same money and promotion that was hinted at for the extra training they wanted me to do never materialised 😢 I’ve told my immediate line manager I’m not doing it in September, I will be there, I will do my job but the over and above won’t be happening. I’m tired.

I’m scouring job ads. I was asked to cover staff absence in admin (not connected to my usual role - the absence caused by stress of the admin officer who finally resigned). I was told there was ‘no money for overtime’ - I worked over 200 additional hours without pay over the last 7 months trying to juggle workload and support my colleague the snr admin officer. A few nice words from SLT would have done, but not even a thank you card from the Business Manager (who didn’t chip in covering the absences) or the Governors. Last day, the Head Teacher pointed to a gift bag on my desk and said ‘that’s for you’ - it had 2 tins (split from a multipack) of G&T and a bar of dairy milk from our 4 x SLT staff. For working myself into the ground over evenings and weekends on £12k a year, they’d put their hands in their pockets and pulled out - what - 50p each?! Behaviour in school is another factor - I don’t know what’s happened, but I didn’t used to arrive to work expecting to be sworn at or bitten by KS1 children. It’s time to get out - I’ve fallen out of love with ‘education’.

schools, local authority or private, do not fight for good support staff. Teachers often fight and strike to support their pay and conditions but who supports the TA who has been stuck with an extremely difficult child all year. The pay does not reflect the job and without the support the teachers would not be able to do their own jobs. Its time that the teachers stood up and fight for the amazing extra support that schools have. Sadly ive not seen it.
