Spinoza was ahead of his time. His philosophy is now corroborated by modern neuroscience. However, he brushed over harmful behavior in the same way you did. If there’s no free will, then harmful behavior is akin to weather patterns, something that should trigger the same moral outrage against a hurricane that destroyed a community. But we don’t hold a hurricane accountable and bring it to justice. For a human to behave morally, free will is a necessity.

What if consciousness is different for different things. What if the Earth is conscious in its own way; animals conscious in their own way; plants conscious in their own way. I ask this because this video made me feel weather changes are similar to human/animal emotions.

it's not the first time I've heard about that,, Free Will is an illusion,, I've heard from even from physicists and philosophers and neurologists, like they said it's determined from the BigBang because every atom was part of making the reality ,, everything is in a path ,, but it's always gives this question about is that means criminals couldn't do anything about it,, and what we should do about it ,, how to deal with them ?? i get confused,,,

Within those structures, lies the freedom to be thus the freedom to utilize those structures to change n realign to who one is rather than the confines of what one became. That is the way n it is a life long process n the old structures are necessary to lay the foundations of the true structures n ways of being. Thus meaning n purpose are contained within this. free will exists within a sphere of context. the farther you zoom out, the less free will exists or matters. Being able to shape the size of that sphere is the essence of free will because we can choose how much of it will affect us.
