The hearing damage from firearms irks me because some actors have suffered permanent hearing loss from firing blanks on set, (Bruce Willis and Die Hard being the most prominent example) so movie makers have no excuses.

Well, actually with the shotgun one. If you just cut the barrel off of a shotgun, so there's just enough to fit the shell, and you shoot it, there is going to be lots of spread, or if it's a really, really short barrel
