when i was a kid you could spend the entire day in chinatown and not hear or interact wifh anyone speaking english. it breaks my heart seeing the transplants ruin it

Flushing is the best place on earth if I lived there I would be fat as fuck I had a spicy beef skewer from the truck on Prince st, beef noodles from new world mall food court and two egg tarts from baos pastry today best day ever

Chinatown is Cantonese, mostly from Hong Kong back in the day. Flushing is mainland China and it grew and grew as more mainland mandarin speaking Chinese came here.

it’s because the rent is skyrocketing in manhattan and chinatowns a lot “affordable” for these transplants but also completely pushing these immigrants out who have been there for decades. covid was a huge factor as well
