unless there's record of this specific soldier surviving, im gonna take an educated guess that he met a swift end after the camera was gone. the part of the Geneva Conventions that established protections for POWs was created after WW2, because of WW2. the previous Geneva Conventions only protected sick/wounded soldiers on the battlefield. it was a very common practice in ww2 for soldiers on both sides to straight up execute captured soldiers. on the American side, this was typically reserved for when they came across atrocities such as civilian mass graves, they would typically ensure the ones that took part in such massacres were dealt with appropriately.
