prefacing this with, i disagree with sophie cunningham. however, my long term partner is a trans woman. even though she has been on estrogen for most of her life, she is by far and away stronger than i could ever be. male bodies have an innate biological advantage. i wholeheartedly believe trans women and girls should 100% be able to play whatever sports they want but i think to make it fair to everyone, we need to have a third, gender diverse league that anyone can join.

Mixed gender skeet shooting was phased into separate gender competition after Zhang Shan won gold in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the International Shooting Union tried to ban women from international competition completely. The 1996 Olympics didn’t have a skeet event at all because of the pushback, and it was added back as split gender in the 2000 Olympics. This shit is way too recent

I was a 🤺 in the 80’s and 90’s in Canada. Sabre was not considered a “feminine” weapon, and my coach would not let me train in it. I cried when the 2004 Olympics had a women’s sabre event. ❤️

There was not a girls soccer program at my high school. I had to play on the boys team and fight to establish a program for girls. I graduated high school in 1987. This is not ancient history. How can we be so ignorant?

My grandfather started the first women's soccer and basketball teams in my city.... he and my grandmother were also in my states legislature and passed multiple laws expanding women's rights... he was an OG feminist and I am kind of glad that he isn't here today to see this blatant mysoginy and the backslide of his work coming from the Republican party.
