These baked beans are sweet, smoky, saucy, and loaded with crispy bacon. They’re the kind of 4th of July side dish that belongs next to burgers, hot dogs, ribs, grilled chicken, and paper plates that are already bending under the weight of too much food. Easy to make in a foil pan and perfect for a cookout. Ingredients: 3 cans baked beans, 28 oz each 1 lb bacon, cooked and chopped 1 small onion, diced ½ cup BBQ sauce ⅓ cup brown sugar ¼ cup ketchup 2 tablespoons yellow mustard 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar ½ teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon smoked paprika Black pepper, to taste Optional: ½ cup diced pineapple or 1 diced jalapeño Recipe: Preheat oven to 350°F. Cook the bacon until crispy, then chop it into bite-sized pieces. Save a little for topping. In a large bowl, mix the baked beans, onion, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and most of the bacon. Pour everything into a 9x13 foil pan or baking dish. Sprinkle the reserved bacon over the top. Bake uncovered for 45 to 55 minutes, until thick, bubbly, and caramelized around the edges. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving so the sauce thickens up. Make-ahead tip: Mix everything the day before, cover, and refrigerate. Bake before the cookout or reheat on the grill over indirect heat. Serving idea: Set it right next to the grilled meats because these beans are basically the side dish that thinks it’s part of the main course. #4thofjulyfood #bakedbeans #cookoutrecipes #bbqsides #summerrecipes
