Here are a few of the biggest misconceptions: ❌ “It’s impossible to live there because of the heat.” Yes, summers are extremely hot. But the city is built for it. Homes, malls, offices, restaurants, playgrounds, even many bus stops are air-conditioned. During the cooler months, life happens outdoors almost every day. ❌ “Dubai is only for millionaires.” There are definitely luxury lifestyles here, but there are also teachers, nurses, engineers, entrepreneurs, and young families living comfortably. Like any major city, your experience depends on your income and lifestyle. ❌ “There’s nothing to do except shopping.” Beaches, desert adventures, hiking nearby, family attractions, incredible restaurants, sports, cultural events, concerts… we’ve never run out of things to explore. ❌ “It’s not family-friendly.” This one surprised me the most. Dubai has amazing parks, playgrounds, indoor play areas, family restaurants, excellent nurseries and schools, and children are genuinely welcomed almost everywhere. ❌ “It’s unsafe.” Coming from North America, the feeling of safety here was one of the biggest changes we noticed. Walking outside late at night, leaving your phone on a café table for a moment, or simply feeling comfortable as a family, it has been a completely different experience for us. ❌ “Everyone who moves here is avoiding taxes.” People move for many reasons: career opportunities, safety, business growth, quality of life, better weather in winter, or simply wanting a different lifestyle. Taxes are just one part of a much bigger picture. Moving here didn’t make Dubai perfect. But it did make us realize how many opinions are based on headlines instead of real life. ❤️🇦🇪 If you’re thinking about moving to Dubai, I created a Dubai Relocation Guide covering visas, jobs, cost of living, schools, neighborhoods, lifestyle, and the things people usually only learn after moving. Comment “GUIDE” and I’ll send it to you. Follow @snowindubai for honest Dubai relocation tips and expat life.
