Gene Simmons didn’t write “Lick It Up.” The song was written by Paul Stanley and Vinnie Vincent. Gene played bass and sang backing vocals, but he wasn’t one of the song’s composers.

So... the two bands were sharing studio time (cough... no they weren't) in the 1970s. Gene stole a riff, then waited until 1983, bypassing four studio albums (Dynasty, Unmasked, The Elder, and Creatures), to release it on the Lick It Up album? That makes sense. SMFH
