I finally got around to watching Obsession (2025), and even though I didn’t add it to my favorites list, I still really enjoyed it. What stood out to me most wasn’t just the horror—it was the emotional moments. The scene where Nikki briefly breaks free and tells Bear to just kill her because she doesn’t want to keep hurting people… that one hit hard. It was heartbreaking because, for a moment, you realize she truly doesn’t want to be with him under the wish’s control. And then finding out she had been sleeping with his friend? That was another moment that really landed emotionally. Those scenes gave the movie more weight than I was expecting. I also have to give a ton of credit to Curry Barker. The fact that he wrote, directed, and edited this film at just 26 years old is incredibly impressive. And making it for a budget of around $1 million (with reports often citing roughly $750,000) before it went on to gross well over $250 million worldwide is absolutely insane. That’s the kind of success every independent filmmaker dreams about. Whether you loved it or not, you’ve got to respect what this movie accomplished. What did you think of Obsession?
