The Prophet ﷺ said that Shaytan ties three knots at the back of a sleeping person's head. At each knot he whispers, "The night is long, so stay asleep." If the person wakes and remembers Allah, one knot is undone. If he then performs wudu, a second knot is undone. If he then prays, the third knot is undone — and he starts the morning energetic and in good spirits. If he does none of this, he wakes up sluggish and in a bad mood.
