Now we have more understanding why Aang was very attentive to Tenzin. It's not fair to Bumi and Kaia yes, but now we know. It was his only way of preserving his culture, the last ties of his past. I want to say I wish he could've lived to see it but we all know that the air benders wouldn't have returned unless the avatar cycle gets passed down. Things happen for a reason

honestly I don't like that they made random earth citizens air benders. even if they can air bend they are not air nomads, it's like a whole different ethnicity. it just feels like they are replaced

tbh, air nomad culture is gone. although the air bending has returned, only tenzin knows only what aang taught him, and based on his fighting, he doesn’t have the same values as aang. their traditions, culture, and the sky bison are all gone.
