@michielverstrat: She crashes hard. Another rider hits her from behind, sending her straight to the ground. For a moment, it looks like her race is over. Instead, she gets up, picks up her bike and immediately starts trying to fix it. She doesn’t complain. She doesn’t look around to see whose fault it was. She just wants to get back into the race. Then something beautiful happens. A spectator steps in, helps fix the bike, and within moments she’s riding again, chasing the peloton. Today is the final stage of the Tour de France, and moments like this remind me why I believe these riders are among the strongest athletes on the planet. Throughout these three weeks, we’ve seen riders continue with broken fingers, broken ribs, severe road rash and injuries that would send most of us straight home. Somehow, they get back on the bike and keep going. That mentality reminds me of entrepreneurship. You will get knocked down. Sometimes because of your own mistakes. Sometimes because someone else’s mistake becomes your problem. What matters isn’t the crash. It’s whether you get back on your bike. And don’t underestimate the people who help you. Behind almost every successful entrepreneur is someone who gave them a hand when they needed it most. You don’t build a business by avoiding setbacks.
