This melody got a different lyric in every language, and one of those versions later returned to be sung inside the Godfather saga itself. 🎭 The theme Nino Rota wrote for the film's "love theme" grew so far beyond the screen that it became a song in its own right. Each country gave it its own new lyric and title: in English, "Speak Softly, Love," credited to Larry Kusik; in Italian, "Parla più piano," the title of this very track; in Portuguese, "Fale baixinho." The same melodic line also went on to versions in French, "Parle plus bas," and in Spanish, "Amor háblame dulcemente." ✨ And years later the melody found its way back home. In "The Godfather Part III," it resurfaces inside the story itself: the character Anthony Corleone sings it in Sicilian dialect, under the title "Brucia la terra." Decades after being born for the first film, it sounds again within the saga, this time from the mouth of a Corleone. 🎤 The voice you hear in this clip is Jonathan Antoine, and he did not come from opera. He became known in 2012 on the British talent show "Britain's Got Talent," where he reached the final singing as a duo and narrowly lost to a dance act with a dog. He rebuilt his career solo and today focuses on crossover repertoire, stitching together classical singing and popular music, like this film theme. What holds you more in this melody: its beauty alone, or everything it carries underneath? 👉 Follow for the best of vocal art, daily on your feed. 🎤 Jonathan Antoine · tenor · England, 1995 🎼 Nino Rota · Italy, 1911–1979 · 20th century #bestofopera #opoderosochefao #ninorota #parlapiupiano
