He never said that content is the end all be all …YOU said it. YOU also create content …..look It’s possible for someone to sincerely believe in an important cause while also becoming motivated by status, influence, or power. We can’t know someone’s motives, but when I see someone focus from educating people to attacking, I start questioning whether it’s still about the cause or about social power.
She can say she’s standing up for Afro-Latinos, but as an Afro-Latino, I don’t trust someone claiming to speak on my behalf while attacking someone who’s also educating the public and speaking on the cause I find so dear.
I want this conversation happening everywhere social media, podcasts, boots on the ground, classrooms, family conversations… everywhere. Every voice that genuinely wants to move this conversation forward should be heard. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 that is what moves the needle. That is what I want for my future generation.
What rubs me the wrong way is her mentality that she is the only one moving the needle, everyone else is unfit to advocate, and her way is the only right way. I looked through her page, and form her other videos she clearly subscribes to call-out culture.
To me, there’s a balance to advocacy. You should be building bridges and creating allies, not making yourself the gatekeeper of who gets to speak.
As an Afro-Latino… thanks, but no thanks. Girl, you don’t represent me.
