Evia is awesome, it’s where my family is from (Kymi). I lived there as a kid and it’s where I go when I go back to visit. Best part of Greece! It gives you everything, mountains, sea, great weather, etc.

Evia was chosen for industrial rather than tourism development, and whatever tourism development took place is the result of many years. * Chalcis and Eretria have a history spanning millennia; read about the Lelantine War around 700 BC.

Evia is like a micro version of Greece. The south part is like the the islands with a Cyclades landscape, the central part is like central Greece and the northern part is like northern and mountainous Greece. In general you get mountains and beaches all over, which is what Greece actually is in a bigger scale. Also where you live is close to a beautiful unique city like Chalkida with a high living standard and less than an hour from Athens. Only bad thing I have to say about Evia is that although Chalkida is still beautiful, they have totally destroyed its historical architecture :(

so happy to hear your story on why you chose Evia. sometimes a place just calls for us, and i think thats what Eretria did for you and your family! as someone who is also from the US and moved to Greece, Athens did the same for me. its a beautiful island, and still close to all major cities and other areas of Greece that you can explore. enjoy and make the most of your time here!

Chalkida is one of the largest cities in Greece, Evia is the 2nd largest island in Greece, Aristotle died in Chalkida, not far away from Athens and more!🇬🇷🇬🇷
