#askmani Stop Bullying: Protect Our Children, Preserve Our Humanity I am deeply saddened and concerned after watching a video recording that appears to show a student being surrounded, verbally humiliated, mocked and confronted by a group of other students, before the situation appears to escalate into physical aggression that causes the student to fall. What is most heartbreaking is seeing a child who should be in a safe environment to learn, grow and develop, facing fear, distress and humiliation in front of his own peers. Every child deserves to be respected, protected and heard. No reason can ever justify bullying, humiliation or causing harm to another human being. This video is not merely a recording of an incident; it serves as a reminder to all of us that bullying must never again be dismissed as a joke, ordinary mischief or a minor disagreement between peers. Bullying is a harmful act that can leave a lasting impact on a victim’s emotional well-being, psychological health, confidence and future. We must recognise that schools are not only places for academic achievement. They are environments where character is built, respect is nurtured, empathy is developed and humanity is strengthened. Malaysia has strengthened its legal framework and mechanisms to address bullying. With the introduction of the Anti-Bully Act 2026 [Act 876] and the establishment of the Anti-Bullying Tribunal, victims and affected parties now have a dedicated channel to seek appropriate action and resolution for bullying cases involving physical, psychological or social harm. At the same time, any conduct involving threats, harassment, intimidation or physical violence may also fall under existing laws, depending on the findings of investigations by the relevant authorities. As a society, we must also take collective responsibility. Those who witness bullying have a moral responsibility to seek help, report the matter or safely intervene where possible. Allowing a child to continue suffering in silence is not the culture we should leave for future generations. To educators, school administrators, parents and the wider community: Let us work together to create a safe, compassionate and respectful environment for every child. Our children need more than education; they need protection, support and the confidence that they are valued. If anyone has information regarding this incident, please channel it to the relevant authorities, school management or official reporting channels so that appropriate action can be taken.
