thresh was definitely flooded out of the saftey of the plains area by the game makers + cato given an advantage somehow to help beat him in retaliation for thresh’s rebellious act of letting katniss go at the feast

Only slightly related but since they make a point in saying 2 and 11 have the same color and sized pack, I always figured both packs contained body armor. If Thresh’s had contained a weapon good enough to compare with Cato’s nearly-perfect armor and the things 5 and 12 needed to survive, we likely would have seen Cato using that weapon in the final battle against the dogs. (There’s also a chance the armor Cato is wearing at the end isn’t his at all but rather Thresh’s, though I think there was a size difference between them). I also wonder if 2’s bag just contain armor for Cato or also something for Clove. I don’t see Clove being okay with him getting life-saving armor and her not getting anything, even if they were allies. Though maybe it was just for him and was meant to drive a wedge between them. Idk something to think about

Peeta would have been killed early in the games. He never would have been accepted into the careers. They only kept him around to track and draw out Katniss.

Also I doubt the “two tributes from the same district can win” thing would have been added at all without Katniss and Peeta, so whose to say Cato and Clove’s alliance would last nearly as long in that circumstance? I could see the Careers alliance crumbling probably as soon as the food starts to run out.

Imo if Katniss did not go into the games that year I think Peeta would have won in a similar way to how Wiress or Annie won

The feast is weird for everyone else because how would they know what they were getting? Maybe fox face could reasonably assume food and she was pretty sneaky but why would Cato or thresh risk it? Especially if they didn’t know what it was or thought they were fine without it.

I think if Katniss wasn't in the arena, and it was Prim and Peeta, he'd fo everything he could to protect her, and make sure she got back home.

I think any of the main characters for the 74th had a great chance of winning. Foxface, Katniss, Thresh Clove and Cato, even rue had a good chance in my eyes

I don't know anything about the books, but I just assumed the mutts had gotten Thresh. I genuinely can't see Cato overpowering him. but, again, that was just my assumption!
