@ApostleRayLive:The beauty of this ugly story is how it reveals Christ and humanity's emptiness without Him. The levite is almost the opposite of Christ. He sacrificed another to save Himself but Christ sacrificed himself to save us. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep (John 10:11). The woman therefore becomes a typology of Christ who was handed over by the religious authority to evil men to be abused and crucified. Fast forward, her body was cut into 12 pieces and sent to all the tribes as a witness leading to a bloody civil war. Jesus' body, the Gospel, the message of His death and resurrection was preached (cut into pieces and distributed) from Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth to bring SALVATION to mankind. Another contrast is how the Levite became enraged seeking justice after causing the death of his concubine. This exposes the human condition. Humans condemn others while overlooking their own faults. The woman died because of the Levite's action but there He was seeking the revenge for a crime he played a part in. Finally, the phrase; THERE WAS NO KING IN ISRAEL, foreshadows in contrast to Christ the eternal King. The absence of a king was the presence of chaos in Israel. When Jesus, the King of Peace, is absent in the life of a man, the rest is chaos. And that is how this story points to the ultimate story of redemption in scriptures!
