@beautywithangee: If you’ve ever felt pressured to change something about yourself just to fit in, you’re definitely not alone. I’m hoping this opens up a safe space for us to share our experiences, learn from one another, and remind ourselves that our worth has never been tied to a skin tone. 🔗 Click the link in my bio to talks a pledge today 🙌 #saynotoskinbleaching #embraceyourskin #ownyourshade #skincaretiktok

There was a time when society made many people believe that being light-skinned was the standard of beauty. If you had a fair sibling while you were dark-skinned, people would often make you feel like you weren’t as beautiful. That kind of pressure affected a lot of us. I used to struggle with pimples, and almost every product I was given to treat them ended up making my skin lighter. Before I knew it, I was bleaching my skin. What many people don’t realise is that bleaching creams may look good on camera, but in reality, the skin often becomes thin and unhealthy. I don’t regret stopping bleaching cream. I stopped in February, and this month makes it six months. It wasn’t an easy journey. Recovery doesn’t happen in two weeks. You go through the process—the withdrawal, the itching, and the changes your skin experiences as it heals. But I can honestly say it was worth it. Today, I appreciate my natural complexion so much more. Black is beautiful. Healthy skin is beautiful. And yes black don’t crack. 🤎

Nobody prepares you for the financial aspect of switching to healthy skincare products. People just talk about the psychological, mental and physical aspects. Seven months in now but I’ve spent almost everything I have but it’s really hard to continue. The process is expensive 😭😔

As you’re accepting your skin also try not to hate on the naturally light skins and call them bleaching or say things like they’re only pretty because they’re light skin. Y’all are the ones creating the problem in most cases because me I believe if you’re pretty you’re pretty regardless of skin color…..the hate light skins gets most of the time is just too much and unnecessary

atleast you knew you were bleaching. I was bleaching my skin and didn't know I was bleaching my skin. I used the the product and I was getting lighter, and I was really enjoying my complexion. I became so light to the point that it felt like I was about to disappear. when I look at my hands and elbows, I didn't see anything wrong with my skin, or maybe it wasn't so visible, so I continued the products, until in February 2024, on my birthday when pictures were taken, and I went back home and looked at the picture and that was when I realised I was bleaching, I saw the black knuckles, my fingers looked like they were shrinking. I stopped the cream immediately. November 2024, I started using healthy skincare and that has been the best decision I ever made 🥰🥰🥰🥰
