My mother watched her mother sacrifice EVERYTHING for her. So in turn she bought her a house and lived with her until she married my father in her mid 30s. 6 weeks before I was born my dad got laid off, at this point my mom was already VP of HR at the company she worked for. My dad decided to be a stay at home dad so they didn’t have to worry about daycare, and eventually had his own small business at home. He drove my mom to and from work every single day. He supported her in everything she did, and spoiled her and loved her more than anyone ever had in her life all while ensuring she never had to worry about someone being with her child. I grew up watching the healthiest relationship I think I will ever see. Now I’m 32, had a kid with a donor, I’m a single mom by choice, and it’s girls night every night. I refuse to settle for anything less than my father, even if that means being single forever, because honestly there are fates SO much worse than that.
